Independence Day and Eating 1.5 Year Old Cake

Still settling into the new apartment. When does it cease to be "settling" and give way to being "settled"? At this very moment, I am a hostage inside my own home, waiting for the movers to come remove cardboard boxes and packing paper. I can't dispose of them myself without risking a fine from the apartment management. :(

So I wait and play Zombie Lane to my heart's content. Poor HusBand is off dealing with a broken windshield in the Jeep. Good thing we have insurance.

Two fun events, as of late, the 4th of July and Tuesday of this past week when we officially celebrated our first wedding anniversary - even though it has been a year and a half.

The base of the Washington Monument proved to be a very popular spot.

Biking across the 14th Street bridge.

Lots of boats in the Potomac wanting a good view of the fireworks.

We hung out with Shelly and Mike and some of their friends. Our bikes are in the foreground.

It was really crowded. I am happy we did it, but I'm not so sure about going there next year. There are tons of neat sites all over DC that are great for fireworks viewing - I'm certain we'll find something better.

While HusBand and I were apart all last year, my parents kept the top of our wedding cake in their freezer. During my brief trip to Maine last weekend, they pressed me to finally unburden them with it so I threw it in the Jeep for the 12 hour trip back, hoping it would make it.

Was simply delicious and a very fun night. ;)

The groom is missing a button and nose and has a gimpy right arm, but the bride faired perfectly!

Dinner that night was a nice steak salad, home made margaritas, and chocolate cake!

Sometimes I still can't believe that we, along with all of our collective stuff, is under one roof at last.
