This stuff wasn't chosen randomly. Oh no! It is a careful selection resulting from months of experimenting and learning what works best.
My stuff is on the left. My water bottle, which I will carry in my left hand, has a zippered compartment where I'll keep one of the gels (in between the two outfits) and my keys. Below the water bottle is Lanacane anti chafing gel. This stuff is great. You put it anywhere body parts rub together or rub against clothing. Experience tells you where you need it.
Below that is my time-tested, desktop-on-a-wrist, Forerunner 305 GPS watch. Shirt, shorts, and shoes are all Adidas. Love Adidas shoes, the shirt and shorts just happen to fit pretty well.
In the middle are four Gu Energy gels. These have been tested as well. Expresso is the best flavor. Trick is to eat one 15 minutes before running, then eat one every 45 minutes thereafter.
Socks are Wrightsock. I don't run in anything else. Wrightsocks are double layered and are the best at preventing blisters. I started wearing these during my first Iraq deployment in 2003 after a doctor told me she wore these for marathons. They are expensive but when it's your feet, it's worth it!
HusBand's stuff on the right is varied. He got a cool t-shirt at the ATM Expo today. His shorts are Livestrong Nike. The black and yellow works with the Army theme. His running shoes are Asics and he wears Nike socks. His hydration system is a North Face waist pack with two 12 (I think) ounce bottles. This thing is neat. It also has zippered compartments for gels. Water will not be a problem for him. He will also be wearing his NikePlus Pedometer watch. It's fancy.
Coffee timer is set, breakfast food identified, timeline pretty much established. We'll see how it goes. My biggest worry is always going potty or HAVING to go potty before I run and not having enough time. Some things are beyond our control!
Look for #13127 and 13140! See you on the course!
