| Main square at Pentagon Row - very pretty right now |
This Christmas Eve day has been unlike any I've ever had. It is the first Christmas Kris and I have spent together as a married couple. The last time we were together at Christmastime was the two days before we got married in 2009. That was an entirely inexplicable level of stress.
Today, however, was both busy and fun. We woke up with a sense of purpose and unwrapped presents and packed for our two day resort getaway.

| We both did pretty well - someone got a red Tumi Ducati backpack to go with someone's red Ducati motorcycle. |
Then we got on the road to FEDEX Stadium to watch the Vikings play the Redskins. A big thank you to Kris's dad for the tickets. Great Christmas gift.

Someone was happy to go see the Vikings. Or watch points acquired for fantasy football in person.
AND - someone had a new Christmas shirt on. |
The NFL experience was sensory overload. There is a lot going on with the band, cheerleaders, players, announcers, and the moron fans sitting all around us. Seriously. You don't see a tenth of this stuff on tv.

We had super great seats.

We left after the 3rd quarter to beat the traffic, but the final score was 33 -26 Vikings! Having become a recent fan of the Vikings (by marriage, naturally) I was a happy sports fan. AND, the Patriots beat the Dolphins 27-24. Merry Christmas indeed!

| Obligatory game day pic. We were bundled up! |
Great fun. I saw Kris make friends with a couple of random Vikings fans. Commonalities mainly derived from fantasy football leagues more so than loyalty to any one team. How the internet has changed people...
We got going after the 3rd quarter and headed west towards Wintergreen Resort - about a 4 hour drive but not too far from Kris's mom in Charlottesville, VA.

We finally got to Wintergreen - of course there was a Starbucks stop involved delaying us only
slightly.
We checked in, found our HUGE room - basically an apartment with a full kitchen, living room, two bathrooms, separate bedroom, dining area, and a fireplace - the best part.
We went to our dinner reservation and then came back to light the fire. It's going pretty well now but was difficult at first. Tomorrow, when we wake up, we'll get to see the entire resort in daylight. Pictures are sure to follow.
Merry Christmas everyone!
